Since I've spent some time on learning how to set it up I will try to explain how to set it up. First off if you're running a server off your PC and are using it to use apache you MUST download activeperl which can be located at: www.activestate.com/Products/ActivePerl/If you need Apache it can be downloaded at: httpd.apache.org/
After downloading the two you must configure apache which there is a tutorial in in the Active Perl documentation. She bang lineIn order for a perl or cgi script to actually work you must have a she bang line which is something like: #!C:/Perl/bin/perl.exe The she bang line tells where the Perl script intepritator is. The she bang line is the directory to the intepreter located in your C drive which may need some editing.

Test programTo make sure perl is working properly make a test page on your PC on your site directory. If you didn't know how to make a PL file open note pad and just type "test.pl" with the " sign on each side. Here is a test script you'd use. #!C:/Perl/bin/perl.exe print "Content-type: text/html\n\n"; print "<html><head>\n"; print "<title>Hello, world!</title></head>\n"; print "<body bgcolor=\"#FFFFFF\" text=\"#000000\" link=\"#FF0000\" vlink=\"#800000\">\n"; print "<h1>Hello, world!</h1>\n"; print "<a href=\"../perl/tutorial.html\"><b>Back</b></a> to the Tutorial\n"; print "</body></html>\n"; Note: Edit the She bang line to your intepretater directory., Also note when making a Perl/cgi program be sure to fix all errors. If an error is anywhere in the script it may cause a 500 Internal Server error or some sort. ------- If any questions please post them.
